a few of my favourite things

Are we out of the woods yet… ? Although the sheet of dense, white clouds drifting above me right now might suggest otherwise, i can already feel the glistening sun’s eagerness to blast through, brilliantly and defiantly. Yes, i think we can safely say that those dark and dreary winter months are behind us and spring is finally here. Thank goodness.

It doesn’t feel quite appropriate to rock my denim shorts and switch from cozy cappuccinos to fresh and fruity frappuccinos just yet, so i thought it would be a good idea to welcome in the new season in a more metaphorical sense. Call me impatient, but the suspense is killing me… so here’s a selection of my favourite things about spring time to feast your imagination on and, well, just help get us in the seasonal spirit.

Sunny sunshine

Sorry for stating the obvious, but after months of hibernation, dry skin and piling on more layers than an onion, that moment when you step outside and feel the warmth of the sun caressing your face for the first time is like pure happiness personified… *sigh*

Rocking my ray-bans

Any excuse to accessorise an outfit with my favourite pair of sunnies is alright with me.

Being a cool rider

For any non-Grease 2 fans reading this, i’m referring to my leather jacket. No, not the one embellished with the T-Birds logo, i’m talking about my trusty, trendy little All Saints number that i simply cannot live without. Pair it with a casual tee and ripped denim jeans and you’re good to go. Plus I hear there’s a 30% spring sale on at All Saints… (Seriously though, if you haven’t seen possibly the best sequel ever you need to get on it straight away. I’m just saying).

Coral nails

For me, there’s nothing more aesthetically gorgeous than a set of coral fingertips and toes amid the back-drop of a sun-kissed glow. I’d recommend Jessica Nail polish in Confident Coral for that perfect spring look.

Sayonara socks

How liberating is it to let your feet finally see the light of day (especially now you have that gorgeous coral pedicure to show off?) No more bulky boots and endless rummaging through your sock drawer to find nothing but mis-match mayhem. Happy days.

Beer o’clock

There’s just something about those sunny sunday afternoons, dining al fresco with a glass of peroni and a splash of lime cordial that lets you know spring has officially arrived.

I’ll bring you flowers

Strolling through Amsterdam’s plentiful & ever-so-beautiful flower markets is one of the most delightful things to do on a sunny spring’s day; wondering idly at all the pretty, pastel colours on display… bloomin’ lovely.
